Closed Captioning now Appearing on “Real Estate Minute” Videos!

website accessibilityWe have great news! As of this week, all of the videos available to you in our “Real Estate Minute” video library are now fully and, most importantly, accurately closed captioned for those who are hearing impaired.

Making REALTOR ® Websites More Compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III

An article was recently published in REALTOR ® Magazine, discussing the need for REALTOR® websites to become more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. In reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, a technical standard created by the World Wide Web Consortium to aid web developers and site managers make the web more accessible to people with visual and other impairments, the article suggested including transcripts to videos as a way of making a website more accessible.

We took this to heart, and though YouTube has been adding auto-generated closed captioning to videos, it’s not always completely accurate. So our developers found a way to address this, and now all of our “Real Estate Minute” videos are accessible to all clients with complete, accurate, and appropriately timed closed captioning.
